Lac du Lou

This is the resort’s best known run for thrill seekers, involving a 1400m vertical descent. There are two main routes down to the frozen glassy lake, starting from the Cime de Caron or from the top of Boismint.

From Cime de Caron

This is a good off-piste option for the advanced but not total expert powder hound as it’s quite well known. You’ll begin at the top and head towards the Vallon du Lou where you’ll come across a yellow sign marking the start of your off-trail journey. There is a nice variety of slopes to tackle as you make your way down the valley, until you reach the stream, which will lead you across a flat section. You’ll discover the lake from a higher level. Once you’ve reached the mirror-like surface, you’ll be able to take in the beauty of the Mont du Chat (the cat’s ears) as you turn to look back up at the Vallon du Lou.

From Boismint

This shorter route starts at a lower elevation, but don’t be fooled into thinking that it’s for the fainthearted. Its slopes are steeper than the Caron and there are no flat sections. But an afternoon session with the warm sunlight shining on the snow is a beautiful sight to see from its west facing hills.

Pierre Lory

Starting at the highest point reached by any chair in the Three Valleys, you’ll make your wary to the wide valley, traversing some pretty steep slopes on your way. From this point you’ll be able to see Col Pierre Lory, which gives its name to this itinerary. This is a fun route as most of the terrain is fairly flat with excellent snow cover, making for a smooth journey down.
